Established in 2006 by the South African Airways in the land known for its exotic landscape and cultural diversity, Mango Airlines is a state-owned South African low-cost airline.

Mango Airlines is based at OR Tambo International airport in the city of Johannesburg in South Africa. It has a fleet size of 10 with 14 Boeing 737-800 accommodating 186 passengers to 8 destinations. Mango Airlines features a uniform fleet of aircraft with high seating density and also offers online ticketing.

General Baggage Allowance:

  • Economy class carry-ons are restricted to a single piece with a maximum weight of 7 kg and within specified dimensions (36 cm x 23 cm x 56 cm), together with either a handbag and/or a slimline laptop bag.

  • All carry-on baggage exceeding the specifications must be checked in.

  • Multiple carry-on baggage items may no longer be taken on board the aircraft.

  • Outside of carry-on baggage, all other baggage must be checked in.

  • Mango is the only low-cost airline in South Africa that allows 20 kg of check-in luggage per Guest without penalties on the number of bags that make up the total weight.

  • The check-in counters can be found in the Domestic Departure Terminal.

  • The recommended check-in time is two (2) hours prior to departure.

  • Check-in closes 40 minutes prior to departure.

  • Guests arriving after the time will need to make alternative travel arrangements.

  • The Self-Service check-in counters open 12 hours before departure and close 40 minutes before the scheduled time of departure.

  • The boarding gate closes 30 minutes prior to departure.

  • Bookings made within 24 hours of departure will not be able to make use of mobi check-in

  • Mobi check-in is not available for flights departing from George and Bloemfontein, and departing to and from Zanzibar

  • Each booking amendment will incur an administration fee.

  • Finding a cheaper fare than the original purchase, Mango Airlines is unable to refund a Guest for the difference.

  • If changes are made via the Mango website or the mobi app the Guest will incur the following administration fees:

    • R210 per name change.

    • R280 per date, route or time change.

  • If you would like to make changes via the call centre or the Guest Service counter at the airport, Mango charges the following administration fees:

    • R290 per name change.

    • R370 per date, route or time change.

    • Mango Plus and Mango Flex members will not incur any administration fees for changes to their name, date or flight details
